Rider Dies in Head-On Collision Near Gown Road
Farmington, CA (June 29, 2022) – Mike Vargas Sr., a 58-year-old man, suffered fatal injuries following a suspected DUI collision that occurred on Escalon-Belota Road.
The Modesto Bee published an article online reporting a horrible crash that occurred north of Gown Road on June 26, Sunday. Preliminary investigation revealed Vargas Sr. was riding a motorcycle heading south on Escalon-Belota Road around 3 p.m. When the motorcyclist approached the area near Gown Road, a Tesla traveling in the opposite side veered into the path of Vargas Sr. The motorcycle ended up crashing head-on into the other vehicle.

When rescue teams arrived at the location, they found the rider ejected from his motorbike. Responding paramedics rendered aid to the man found lying in the roadway. Despite life-saving efforts performed by emergency crews, the victim sadly succumbed to his injuries and died. The next of kin identified the deceased in a GoFundMe page as Mike Vargas Sr.
Meanwhile, our sources indicated the Tesla driver showed signs of intoxication. Officials rendered aid to the injured suspect before booking him into jail.
Further investigation on the case is ongoing.
