Mikey DellaVella Fighting for Life After Alleged Drunk Driver Runs Red Light

Mikey DellaVella Critically Injured in Fullerton Crash with DUI Suspect

FULLERTON, Calif. (June 16, 2026)Mikey DellaVella, a beloved dance instructor and father, is fighting for his life after suffering catastrophic injuries in an alleged drunk-driving crash in Fullerton, while prosecutors say the accused driver had a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit.

Authorities say 28-year-old Hector Ramon Delacruzjusto was charged recently in connection with the violent three-vehicle collision that left DellaVella critically injured late Sunday night on June 7th.

According to investigators, the crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of West Valencia Drive and South Brookhurst Road in Fullerton.

Police allege Delacruzjusto was driving a 2024 Nissan eastbound on West Valencia Drive when he ran a red light and slammed into a 2022 Mazda SUV traveling southbound on Brookhurst Road. The impact sent the Mazda into a 2023 Tesla traveling northbound, authorities said.

DellaVella, who was driving the Tesla, was rushed to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

In a fundraising campaign created by his fiancée, DellaVella remains in intensive care after suffering multiple skull and facial fractures, a traumatic brain injury, and bleeding in the brain. The couple, who share a 6-year-old son, say he remains on a ventilator and under sedation as doctors fight to stabilize him.

Prosecutors charged Delacruzjusto with felony counts of driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury and driving with a blood-alcohol level of .08% or higher causing injury. Court records allege his blood-alcohol level measured .10, above California’s legal limit. He also faces a sentencing enhancement for allegedly inflicting great bodily injury and an infraction for allegedly running a red light.

Delacruzjusto pleaded not guilty during his arraignment in Santa Ana. He is scheduled to return to court June 17 for a pretrial hearing in Fullerton.

The case remains under investigation.
