2-Vehicle Crash on the Interstate 880 in Milipitas
MILIPITAS Calif. (Sept. 23, 2022) — A two-vehicle Milipitas crash on the Interstate 880 Nimitz Freeway happened Friday morning near Dixon Landing Road.
The collision occurred in the southbound lanes about 6:35 a.m. on Sept. 23rd, in Santa Clara County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The drivers of a Ford Mustang and a gray 2021 BMW 330I are involved. It’s unknown what led up to the crash, but the vehicles spun out and the Mustang went off the roadway. The car went about 15 feet down an embankment on the right side of the freeway, the report said. The vehicle was smoking and came to a stop in some bushes.
The BMW suffered major rear-end damage in the crash.
A caller to 911 told operators they went to help the person in the Mustang, but the person did not respond to them and only heard breathing. Paramedics responded to the scene to help those injured in the crash, but there are no further details.
Both vehicles required tow trucks to remove them from the freeway.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault.
