Man Hit by Car While Crossing New Salem Street, Seriously Injured

MIRA MESA, San Diego (August 20, 2017) – A pedestrian was seriously injured in a suspected hit-and-run collision near New Salem Street and Camino Ruiz Saturday night, according to San Diego Union-Tribune.

The accident took place at 8 p.m.

As per the article, San Diego police said the male pedestrian was walking south across New Salem Street when he was allegedly struck by a vehicle headed east at the time. He was apparently ran over by the vehicle’s tires.

The victim, described as a man in his 40s or 50s, was immediately transported to a trauma center with major head injuries. He is reportedly undergoing surgery.

Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver involved continued and sped south on Camino Ruiz following the incident.

If a motorist flees the scene after being involved in a traffic collision, it is deemed as a hit-and-run. Based on the report, the driver hit the bicyclist and left without providing assistance or even a contact information. The alleged suspect will likely be held responsible for causing the accident and injuries to the man. The victim has then an evident right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit against the at-fault party.

In this case, the victim is encouraged to seek out an expert and professional lawyer who will work aggressively to win the case and obtain the maximum compensation for all the hospital bills, future medical needs, lost wages, property damage and other losses.

Without the representation of a lawyer, insurance companies might make contact with you directly, and since they are trained to protect their best interests, this could mean a loss of rights on your behalf, especially if you unknowingly sign something that they didn't completely explain to you.
