Man Hit by Car While Crossing New Salem Street, Seriously Injured
MIRA MESA, San Diego (August 20, 2017) – A pedestrian was seriously injured in a suspected hit-and-run collision near New Salem Street and Camino Ruiz Saturday night, according to San Diego Union-Tribune.
The accident took place at 8 p.m.
As per the article, San Diego police said the male pedestrian was walking south across New Salem Street when he was allegedly struck by a vehicle headed east at the time. He was apparently ran over by the vehicle’s tires.

The victim, described as a man in his 40s or 50s, was immediately transported to a trauma center with major head injuries. He is reportedly undergoing surgery.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver involved continued and sped south on Camino Ruiz following the incident.
If a motorist flees the scene after being involved in a traffic collision, it is deemed as a hit-and-run. Based on the report, the driver hit the bicyclist and left without providing assistance or even a contact information.
