Motorcyclist Killed in Mission Valley Crash on Interstate 15 and Interstate 8 Transition
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 20, 2021) – A crash on the ramp from the north Interstate 15 to west Interstate 8 killed a motorcyclist in Mission Valley.
According to The San Diego Union-Tribune and ABC 10 News, the tragic accident occurred on Thursday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at around 4:10 p.m.
The incident began when for an unknown reason a Honda Civic pulled over on the right hand shoulder. The car stopped on the ramp from the northbound Interstate 15 to westbound Interstate 8.
Motorcyclist vs Car Collision
The California Highway Patrol said a motorcyclist approached and then collided with the rear of the Honda in Mission Valley. The impact knocked the rider down in a freeway lane.
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded and soon pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. The name of the deceased party remains unreleased pending notification of next of kin.
Meanwhile, CHP did not mention if the female driver of the Honda ended up hurt following the wreck. Officials forced the Interstate 15 and Interstate 8 transition to shut down for a time after the collision.
The fatal Mission Valley crash is still under investigation.
