Man Seriously Injured in Mission Valley Hit-and-Run Crash on Friars Road
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 9, 2021) – A pedestrian was seriously injured after a hit-and-run crash along Friars Road in the Mission Valley neighborhood.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and FOX 5 News, the accident occurred on Friday afternoon. Officers reported the collision at about 4 p.m.
The incident happened when a male pedestrian stepped into a crosswalk on Friars Road in Mission Valley. He was walking away from one of the parking structures of the Fashion Valley mall.
Police said a vehicle going east on Friars Road initially stopped at the stop sign. For an unknown reason, its male driver continued forward and then struck the man.
Pedestrian Hit by Car Near Fashion Valley
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene, just west of state Route 163. They found the victim left lying on the ground as a result of the crash.
Medical personnel rushed him to a hospital for treatment of multiple serious injuries, including fractured bones. Officials did not release his name and condition at this time.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that motorist did not stop to render aid to the pedestrian and sped away. Officials described the car involved as a blue or black Chevrolet Blazer.
Authorities are still searching for the suspect. The Mission Valley hit-and-run collision is still under investigation.
