Mission Valley Semi-Truck Crash State Route 163 Friars Road

2 Injured in Mission Valley Crash on State Route 163 at Friars Road

SAN DIEGO, CA (May 25, 2021) – Two were hospitalized after a crash on State Route 163 at Friars Road in the Mission Valley neighborhood.

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune and NBC San Diego, the accident occurred on Tuesday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck shortly after noon.

The San Diego Fire-Rescue said five vehicles, including a semi-truck, collided for an unknown reason in Mission Valley. They crashed on the southbound State Route 163 off-ramp at Friars Road.

Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and then found two people who ended up hurt as a result of the collision. They sustained unspecified injuries upon impact.

Medical personnel took both patients to Scripps Mercy Hospital and listed them in serious condition. Officials did not release their names.

Meanwhile, the truck leaked an estimated 50 gallons of fuel following the wreck. Officers forced the the off-ramp from State Route 163 to Friars Road to close after the collision.

Authorities are still determining the cause of the Mission Valley crash.
