At Least 1 Hurt in Car Accident on San Diego Freeway Monday
Mission Viejo, CA (July 19, 2021) – A suspected hit-and-run car crash occurred on Interstate 5, also known as San Diego Freeway, Monday afternoon.
The California Highway Patrol group reported two vehicles collided in the on the southbound lanes of the freeway. Officials described the cars involved in the wreck as a gray Toyota SUV and a gray Jeep.
CHP logged the incident at about 4:20 p.m.
When emergency teams arrived at the site, near the Oso Parkway, they found juveniles involved in the crash. Our sources indicated a 6-year-old male, and an 8-year-old both complained of pain all over their body.

The dispatch later mentioned a person involved in the wreck fled the scene before police arrived. At this time, no immediate information was available on the hit-and-run suspect.
Investigators continue to work at this time to determine several factors surrounding the crash in Mission Viejo.
