2 Killed in Crash on PCH; Suspected DUI Driver Eric Kinser Arrested
HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (January 20, 2021) – Mitchell Tyler Wade, 19, of Newport Beach, is one of two victims who died Tuesday in a head-on crash with a suspected drunk driver on Pacific Coast Highway. Also killed in the collision is Cindy Darrelyn Zerovs, 71, of Huntington Beach.
The two drivers were identified today as victims in a collision involving driver, as Eric Kinser, 35, of Sunset Beach. He was allegedly drunk when he crossed over into oncoming traffic and crashed into the two motorists.
The tragic news was reported at 6:45 p.m. on Jan. 19th. Kinser was subsequently arrested after the fatal crash.
Fatal PCH Crash Near Warner Ave
Police report that Kinser was driving a white 2007 Dodge Ram pickup truck northbound on Pacific Coast Highway near Warner Avenue. At some point, Kinser crossed over the center median into southbound lanes. That’s when he struck a silver 1999 Toyota Solara driven by the teenager as well as a white 2012 Lexus RX350 driven by Cindy Zervos.
All three cars had major damage following the collision.
Paramedics responded to help the injured, but sadly Cindy Zervos died at the scene. They rushed the teenager who was driving the Toyota to UCI Medical Center, but sadly he died at the hospital.
Meanwhile, an unidentified 45-year old female passenger in the Lexus suffered moderate injuries. She was rushed to OC Global Medical Center.
Also, Kisner was transported by ambulance to UCI for treatment of unspecified injuries. He is being charged with second-degree murder, DUI combined alcohol and drugs causing bodiy. injury, according to the Huntington Beach Police Department.
