MODESTO, Calif. (April 7, 2020) — Two people were injured early Monday morning when an ambulance crashed into an overturned semi-tractor trailer truck on Highway 99 in the Modesto area.
The collision was reported at about 1 a.m. to the California Highway Patrol.
The EMT and a medic who were in the ambulance suffered minor injuries in the crash, the report said. The CHP stated that the trucker was traveling northbound on Highway 99 near Standiford Avenue when the vehicle veered off the highway, struck a sign and veered back onto the highway where it overturned.
The highway was blocked by the overturned truck when an oncoming ambulance crashed into the back of it.
The truck spilled a load of produce onto the highway that required a cleanup.
Police closed down northbound Highway 99 for the investigation.
