6 Injured in Modesto Crash on Highway 99 at Carpenter Road Exit
MODESTO, CA (July 16, 2022) – Several were injured after a crash on Highway 99 and Carpenter Road in Modesto.
According to an article published by The Modesto Bee, the accident took place on Saturday morning. Officers reported the wreck shortly after 5 a.m.
The incident began when a semi-truck was going south on Highway 99 in Modesto. For an unknown reason, the big rig slammed into the rear of a box truck at the Carpenter Road exit.
The California Highway Patrol said the box truck then rolled over. A Buick Enclave approached and in the process, collided with the overturned vehicle.
The man driving the Buick and his wife, both 42 from Stockton, sustained moderate injuries as a result of the collision. The woman obtained serious lacerations to her head and arms.
Trucks and Car Collide
Two of their children, ages 5 and 8, survived the incident with minor injuries. Their 16-year-old suffered moderate injuries upon impact.
The driver of the box truck, a Sacramento man, ended up with moderate injuries. Paramedics soon rushed all six patients to hospitals for treatment.
CHP added that firefighters freed at least one trapped occupant from the wreckage. The report did not disclose the names of the wounded parties and their condition at this time.
The 47-year-old Modesto man operating the big rig did not sustain any wound following the wreck. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
Meanwhile, officers forced the southbound lanes of Highway 99 to shut down near Carpenter for more than three hours after the accident.
