Modesto: Deadly Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99 Near 9th Street

Vehicle Strikes, Kills Pedestrian on Highway 99 Friday

Modesto, CA (April 17, 2021) – A pedestrian suffered fatal injuries following a traffic accident on Highway 99 Friday evening, the Modesto Bee News reported.

Officials said a male party was seen standing in the center median of the Modesto highway around 9 p.m. The man apparently attempted to cross the freeway and stepped into the southbound traffic lanes near 9th Street.

Per article published online, a bronze Hyundai Accent eventually struck the pedestrian. Authorities mentioned the vehicle was traveling approximately 70 to 75 mph when the horrible crash happened.

Responding medical personnel performed life-saving measures to the pedestrian but he sadly succumbed to his injuries and died. The name of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.

Meanwhile, the driver involved in the unfortunate event appeared unharmed after the collision.

Detectives assigned to handle the case continue to investigate several factors surrounding the deadly pedestrian accident on Highway 99 in Modesto.
