Police Officer Injured in Car Crash at Carver Road and Standiford Avenue
MODESTO (August 8, 2018) – A Modesto police officer was injured in a hit-and-run collision at the intersection of Carver Road and Standiford Avenue Monday morning, according to the Modesto Bee.
Preliminary investigation revealed an officer was driving around 12:50 a.m. east on Standiford and crossed the intersection at a green light. At the same time, a white Hyundai was traveling south at Carver. For unknown reasons, the Hyundai driver tried to turn left onto Standiford while the light on Carver was red, and ended up broadsiding the patrol car.
The impact reportedly forced the police vehicle to slam into a nearby sign and a bus bench, resulting in significant damage to the patrol car. As per the article, the unidentified officer sustained what appeared to be minor injuries as a result of the wreck.
