Authorities ID Two Men Killed in Collision Involving Big Rig
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (May 17, 2022) – Modesto Talamantes, 51, and Thomas Ornelaz, 40, both from San Fernando, both died Monday in a collision with a big rig truck on the Foothill (210) Freeway.
The collision occurred about 5:25 p.m. on Monday afternoon, just east of La Tuna Canyon Road in Tujunga, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Two-Vehicle Crash on the Interstate 210 Freeway
The two men were traveling in a car that struck the back of a big rig truck in the westbound lanes of the I-210 Freeway, according to reports by CBS Los Angeles and KTLA News.
The car became wedged underneath the back of the semi-truck during the collision. Firefighters and paramedics responded and located the two San Fernando men, but sadly they both died at the scene.
Meanwhile, officers forced the westbound lanes of the 210 Freeway to shut down near La Tuna after the incident.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office later identified them as Modesto Talamantes and Thomas Ornelaz.
The circumstances leading up to the crash are under investigation.
