4 Woman Injured in Modesto Crash Involving Big Rig Truck
MODESTO, Calif. (July 29, 2020) — Four women were hurt Tuesday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash at the T-shaped intersection of Oakdale Road and Claratina Avenue in northeast Modesto.
The traffic accident took place about 1:40 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The driver of a semi truck was traveling northbound on Oakdale Road when it collided with an eastbound driver on Claratina Avenue who was making a left turn onto Oakdale and failed to yield the right-of-way, police said.
The intersection is controlled by a stop sign for drivers traveling on Claratina Avenue, but not on Oakdale Road.
The semi truck reportedly broadsided the red sedan and then the truck crashed into a black Nissan Altima, police said.
Both cars were occupied by two females who were all injured in the crash.
Police stated that the two women in the Nissan had minor injuries and were treated and released, but the driver of the red sedan suffered major injuries and her passenger had moderate to major injuries. One of the women was trapped inside her car and had to be extricated by firefighters with hydraulic tools.
There were no reported injuries to the driver of the truck, police said.
