Infant, 3 Adults Hurt in Modesto Crash on Tully Road
MODESTO, Calif. (May 25, 2018) — A baby and three adults were hospitalized Thursday night following a collision between two motorists on Tully Road at Mount Vernon Drive, according to the Modesto Fire Department and the Modesto Bee.
The collision was reported to police about 7:15 p.m. last night. The female drivers of a Honda sedan and a black Chevrolet pickup truck were involved. One man was seriously injured in the crash and transported to a hospital’s trauma center for treatment. A mother and her infant were evaluated for possibly injuries and taken to a hospital as a precaution. The baby had a bloodied face and undisclosed injuries, but was expected to survive.
The police report stated that the woman who was heading westbound on Mount Vernon allegedly drove through a red traffic light and struck the other driver who was traveling northbound on Tully Road. The alleged, at-fault driver was apparently unlicensed and uninsured. The woman and her passengers suffered moderate to serious injuries in the collision, the police report said.
The second driver and her passengers suffered major injuries in the crash.
Modesto Accident Investigation
Police are investigating this collision to determine fault. At this time, it appears that one of the drivers failed to stop for a red traffic light. This is a violation under California traffic law. A negligent act such as running a red light will likely result in the driver being cited and anyone who is injured may be compensated for their financial losses.
As we head into the busy Memorial Day weekend, our roadways are becoming extremely dangerous for both pedestrians and drivers. Our prayers go out to those injured in hopes of a full recovery.
If a negligent driver or another entity is at fault for a collision resulting in injuries to you or a loved one, there may be grounds for a personal injury or wrongful death claim. While this is always a personal decision, for many the financial losses associated with a traffic accident are significant.
