MODESTO, California (August 15, 2016) –A 71-year-old woman riding as a passenger in a Honda Odyssey minivan had died following a collision Saturday afternoon at Plainview Road and Terminal Avenue, according to a report by the Modesto Bee.
The fatal crash took place about 4:25 p.m., just south of Riverbank. Two drivers also suffered minor injuries in the collision.
Jiwan Jagroop, 73, of Modesto, was driving the Honda eastbound on Plainview Road and stopped at Terminal Avenue prior to entering the intersection with Terminal Avenue. As the Honda moved into the intersection, it was struck by an oncoming 1991 Toyota pickup truck that was heading southbound on Terminal at an unknown speed.
Alex Stone, 30, of Modesto, who was driving the Toyota, crashed into the Honda and both vehicles ended up in the brush on the southeast side of the intersection.
The female passenger in the Honda was rushed to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto where she later died of her injuries, the report said. The two drivers both suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The California Highway Patrol is heading up the investigation into the crash to determine liability.
