1 Killed, 1 Injured in Modoc County Plane Crash Near Likely
MODOC COUNTY, CA (June 20, 2021) – A plane crash killed one person and injured another near Likely in Modoc County.
According to the Record Searchlight and KRCRTV News, the tragic accident occurred on Sunday morning. Officers reported the incident shortly after 9 a.m.
The Modoc County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened when a small plane was taking off from a ranch in Likely. For an unknown reason, the plane failed to get a high enough altitude and then crashed.
Small Plane Crashes Sunday
A passenger, a 65-year-old Modoc County man, died as a result of the crash. The pilot, a 65-year-old Modoc County man, ended up suffering from major injuries following the accident.
An air ambulance took the patient to the Mercy Medical Center in Redding for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
The area where the the incident happened is about 15 miles south of Alturas on Highway 395. The cause of the fatal Likely plane crash is still under investigation.
