2 Men Killed, 2 Injured in Whittier Collision
WHITTIER, Calif. (May 2, 2018) – Moises Alejandro Duran, 28, and another unidentified man, both died at the scene of multi-vehicle head-on collision Wednesday morning at Slauson and Boer avenues, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Two others were injured in the collision involving four vehicles.
The crash took place about 4:30 a.m. when a wrong-way driver a Ford Fusion crashed head-on into two oncoming pickup trucks. The Fusion was ripped apart during the collision and both occupants were killed upon impact. One of the trucks overturned onto its roof and the larger white pickup truck a tree.
A fourth driver in a dark gray BMW fled the scene after the crash. The collision also left one person with moderate and another with minor injuries. Paramedics rushed them to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatch.
The crash remains under investigation by police to determine liability.
