4 Italian Tourists Injured in Collision on 178 and Poison Canyon
POISON CANYON, Calif. (MAY 7, 2014) — Four people suffered minor to major injuries after a solo vehicle rollover crash into rocks Wednesday night on State Route 178 at Poison Canyon between Ridgecrest and Trona, according to a dispatch by the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officers say one person was initially trapped in the wreckage and needed help getting out. A woman who was seated in the back of the Mercedes SUV was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected during the crash and was laying in the roadway. Police say the person who called 911 was concerned the woman was going to be run over by passing cars. Two others had minor injuries and one suffered a fractured arm.
Paramedics responded with a helicopter ambulance to transport the woman who was in road to Ridgecrest Regional Hospital for treatment of major injuries. The other three people involved were also taken to hospital for treatment of less serious injuries.
“The people hurt in this car accident should be able to file a claim with insurance with the assistance of an attorney to compensate them for their many losses,” said Attorney James Johnson. “Police will investigate this collision to determine what led to the crash and the driver’s insurance should pay for the injuries suffered by the passengers.”

“The insurance company typically tries to settle this type of case for less than it’s value,” Johnson said. “On the other hand, people who are represented by an attorney on average obtain 3.5 times more compensation for their losses.”
