1 Killed, 4 Injured in Mojave Crash Near Tehachapi Willow Springs and Backus
MOJAVE, CA (September 10, 2021) – A crash killed at least one person and injured several others near Tehachapi Willow Springs and Backus roads in Mojave.
According to the California Highway Patrol dispatch team, the tragic accident occurred on Friday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 3:13 p.m.
CHP said two vehicles collided head-on for an unknown reason in Mojave. They crashed near the intersection of Tehachapi Willow Springs and Backus roads.
2 Vehicles Collide Head-On
The incident log described the cars as a Honda Odyssey and a Hyundai Sonata. Four people riding the minivan and an occupant of the car ended up trapped in their vehicles upon impact.
Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene and extricated them from the wreckage. They confirmed that one person died as a result of the collision.
Air ambulances took the other patients to the Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, CHP forced the area of Tehachapi Willow Springs and Backus to shut down for several hours following the wreck. The cause of the fatal Mojave crash is still under investigation.
