Monica Acevedo, 47, Killed in Hughson Crash on Whitmore Avenue
HUGHSON, CA (September 9, 2022) – A fatal crash left Monica Acevedo seriously injured on Whitmore Avenue in Hughson.
The California Highway Patrol identified the 47-year-old Hughson woman as the victim of the wreck which took place on Thursday.
The incident happened when Monica Acevedo was driving a 2014 Toyota sedan west on Whitmore Avenue, approaching Waring Road, in Hughson. A 2006 Ford SUV was traveling in front of her.
At the same time, a 2014 Nissan sedan was going east. CHP said the Nissan then veered into the westbound lane for an unknown reason.
Man, 21, Killed in Wreck
In the process, the Nissan slammed into the Ford. The Nissan spun out of control in a clockwise direction, directly into the path of the Toyota.
The impact of the collision forced the Toyota into the Nissan. The Modesto Bee and Turlock Journal wrote that the accident occurred on September 8 at about 3:31 p.m.
Monica Acevedo sustained major injuries as a result of the crash. Paramedics rushed her to the Doctors Medical Center for treatment.
The driver of the Nissan, a 21-year-old Denair man, died at the scene. The motorist in the Ford, 47-year-old La Grange resident Avelino Araiza, ended up unharmed.
Meanwhile, CHP forced Whitmore to shut down from Waring to Verduga Avenue for a time following the wreck. The cause of the Hughson crash is still under investigation.
