Man, Woman Die in Fiery 605 Freeway Crash; Driver Arrested on DUI Charges
NORWALK, Calif. (July 16, 2018) – Monica Madrid, 22, of Norwalk, was among three injured in a deadly collision early Monday morning that took the lives of two people on the Interstate 605 Freeway at Rosecrans Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 52-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman both died in the crash caused by a suspected DUI. Madrid was a passenger in the alleged drunken driver’s vehicle. The 2006 Infiniti M45 reportedly crashed into the back of a minivan.
The driver of the 1999 Ford Windstar minivan, Martina Beshara, 22, of Paramount, had three passengers. Her vehicle became disabled on the freeway and was struck by the suspected DUI driver. The impact killed two of her passengers, Beshara was injured, and a 7-year-old girl suffered major injuries.
The fiery crash took place about 1:06 a.m.in the northbound lanes of the freeway. Four people in total were hurt in the minivan and Madrid and the driver of the Infiniti were also hurt. The two vehicles became engulfed in flames following the collision.
Alex Barragan, 31, of Norwalk, who was driving the Infiniti, was arrested and booked on DUI charges.
Traffic Accident Investigation
At this time, it appears that the driver arrested on DUI charges is responsible for this horrible crash.
