Driver Dies at Hospital After Collision at Monte Vista and Mission
Montclair, CA (May 19, 2022) – At least one person suffered fatal injuries following a suspected DUI car crash that occurred in the area of Monte Vista Avenue and Mission Boulevard.
The Fontana Herald News published an article online reporting a fatal collision that occurred at the intersection in Montclair on May 17. Preliminary investigation revealed a white pickup truck was seen traveling at a high rate of speed heading south on Monte Vista. When the pickup approached the intersection at Mission, the driver apparently failed to stop at a solid red traffic light. The pickup sped through the crossing and broadsided a black SUV.
Per local news source, the innocent man driving the SUV sustained serious injuries as a result of the wreck. Responding paramedics rushed the victim to a hospital, where they later sadly passed away. The identity of the deceased remained undisclosed pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
Oswaldo Gutierrez Arrested in Montclair Fatal DUI Hit-and-Run Crash
Authorities mentioned three occupants in the pickup fled the scene before police arrived. Officers eventually apprehended two hit-and-run suspects, including 19-year-old Oswaldo Gutierrez.
Investigators said they found alcoholic containers, narcotics, ammunition and cash inside the white pickup truck. Given that, the suspect were charged with DUI; vehicular manslaughter; hit-and-run; and possession and transportation of narcotics for sales.
The Montclair Police Department is the agency handling the investigation of the case.
