3 Killed in Bakersfield Crash with Semi-Truck
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Sept. 14, 2022) — Monte Harold Johnson, 65, of Arvin, is one of three people who died Friday night in a collision with a big rig truck at Malaga Road and Sunset Boulevard.
Martha Alicia Flores, 48, of Arvin, also died in the crash about 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept.9th , according to Bakersfield Californian and the California Highway Patrol. The third person who died has not been identified.
CHP officers responded to the intersection and found a blue 2017 Volvo tractor trailer truck had crashed into a 1997 Honda at the intersection.
The truck driver allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign and broadsided the Honda occupied by three people including its driver Martha Flores and passenger, Monte Johnson.
All three people from the Honda died at the crash scene. A GoFundMe for family members of Martha Flores and her husband who both died in the crash is raising money for funeral expenses.
Investigators with the California Highway Patrol do not suspect drugs or alcohol were factors, police said. It’s unknown at this time if there are any arrests.
Witnesses to the deadly crash may call the CHP at 661-396-6600.
