Head-on Collision on Highway 68 in Monterey
MONTEREY, Calif. (Dec. 31, 2024) — A major injury car accident happened Tuesday afternoon in Monterey on State Route 68 also known as Holman Highway.
The head-on collision occurred at 1:26 p.m. on Dec. 31st, near Morse Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials reported both male drivers were unresponsive after the collision and one vehicle went over the side of the highway.
The other vehicle was blocking traffic lanes and both were eventually towed from the scene.
Paramedics responded to care for the two motorists and at least one was taken to a hospital with major injuries.
The roadway reopened to traffic at 2:22 p.m. and investigators are working to determine fault for the Monterey accident on Highway 68.
