Motorcyclist Killed in Monterey County Crash on Highway 1 Near Bixby Bridge
MONTEREY COUNTY, CA (July 18, 2022) – A crash killed a motorcyclist on Highway 1 near the Bixby Bridge in Monterey County.
According to the KION News and KSBW News, the tragic accident took place on Monday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 3:17 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol said the motorcycle rider and another vehicle collided for an unknown reason near Big Sur in Monterey County.
Motorcycle and Vehicle Collide
The two crashed on Highway 1 near the Bixby Bridge and Coast Road. Firefighters along with the paramedics soon arrived at the scene.
They found the motorcyclist who ended up pinned underneath the vehicle as a result of the collision. Medical personnel soon pronounced the person dead.
The name of the deceased party has not been yet released pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, the report did not mention if the other driver stopped or stayed at the site following the incident.
Officers forced all lanes of Highway 1 to shut down near the Bixby Bridge after the wreck. The cause of the fatal Monterey County crash is still under investigation.
