MONTEREY: Fatal Crash Highway 68 Near Canyon Del Rey Boulevard
Woman, 22, Killed; 3 Injured in Highway 68 Collision
MONTEREY, Calif. (Dec. 27, 2024) — A 22-year-old Berkley woman died in a Monterey crash on Highway 68 between Canyon Del Rey Boulevard and Ragsdale Drive.
The three-vehicle collision occurred on Christmas Eve at 11:10 a.m. on Dec. 24th, according to a press release by the Monterey Police Department.
Police reported a driver in a white Dodge Nitro was heading west on Highway 68, but came upon slowing traffic ahead and couldn’t stop.
The Dodge collided with a white Lexus SUV, and then the Dodge veered into the eastbound lanes where it crashed head-on into a blue Honda Accord.
Both the driver and two passengers from the Honda suffered moderate to major injuries. Paramedics transported all three of them to Natividad Medical Center. The 22-year-woman passenger later died from her injuries at the hospital. The driver and second passenger were treated for their injuries.
Also, the driver of the Dodge suffered major injuries and was taken to the hospital. It’s unknown if anyone in the Lexus was hurt.
