MOORPARK: Pickup Crash Dislodges Boat on Trailer on 118 Freeway

Pickup Truck Pulling Boat and Trailer Crashes Off SR-118
MOORPARK, Calif., (July 29, 2026) — A major injury crash involving a truck pulling a boat happened in Moorpark on the eastbound State Route 118, just west of Princeton Avenue.
The incident was reported on July 29th at approximately 8:50 a.m. when a truck pulling a boat collided with the right-hand side of the roadway. The impact was forceful enough to dislodge the boat from its trailer, blocking both lanes on the bridge. According to the California Highway Patrol, the black truck veered off the freeway into a ravine on the left side, before the bridge.
Emergency responders, including the Ventura County Fire Department, were quickly notified and dispatched to the scene. The truck was located on the north shoulder of the bridge, while the boat had come to rest on the bridge itself. Due to the severity of the crash, the incident was upgraded to a “Traffic Collision-Major Injury” status.
Traffic was significantly affected, with semi-trucks being diverted off the freeway at Los Angeles Avenue. Additional services were called to manage the scene and facilitate the removal of the boat and trailer.
The driver of the truck, whose identity and condition are currently unknown, reportedly sustained injuries in the crash. Paramedics provided immediate medical assistance. The California Highway Patrol is actively investigating the cause of the collision and is seeking any witnesses who might have additional information.
