Morena Alvarado-Lopez Killed, Juan Bahena Severely Injured in Hit-and-Run
LOS ANGELES (February 24, 2020) – A pedestrian killed after an alleged hit-and-run crash in the area of Sunset Boulevard and White Knoll Drive Monday has been identified.
Police said Morena Del Carmen Alvarado-Lopez, 58, died following the accident which also severely injured her husband Juan Bahena, 71.
The incident began when Alvarado-Lopez and Bahena were walking north on Sunset Boulevard near White Knoll Drive in the Echo Park neighborhood.
According to reports by KTLA and NBC Los Angeles, a vehicle struck them for an unknown reason and then dragged them for about 50 feet before they became dislodged.

Paramedics responded to the scene and rushed the couple to County USC Medical Center where Alvarado-Lopez died. Bahena suffered severe injuries upon impact.
The fatal collision occurred shortly before 1 a.m. near the Club Bahia. Family members and friends set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the funeral expenses of the woman and medical bills of her husband.
Meanwhile, police affirmed that the driver involved did not stop to render aid and took off. Officers described the suspect car as a burgundy or red 4-door passenger vehicle with possible front-end damage.
