MORENO VALLEY, California (January 22, 2016) — Five people suffered minor injuries early Friday morning when a car crashed into a Stonegate Apartments unit at 12650 Memorial Way, a report by the Riverside County Fire Department.

Three of the injured were in the vehicle and two were inside the 3-story apartment unit that was hit by the car. Paramedics rushed to the scene about 1:49 a.m. and transported two of them to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the car suffered moderate injuries and was one of the two taken to hospital.

The crash caused significant damage to the apartment building as it struck the first floor gas banks and as a result displaced 38 residents from 12 units. The American Red Cross was called to help two of the residents and the others were related by the apartment complex owners.

Police are heading up an investigation into the crash and will report on its findings.
