MORENO VALLEY, California (January 6, 2015) –– Pedestrian Andrew Delgado, 32, was killed Tuesday, Jan. 2 in a car accident while walking in the eastbound lanes of Alessandro Boulevard, just east of Kitching Street, according to a press release by the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner.
About 6:44 p.m., Moreno Valley Police officers responded to the fatal crash and found Delgado lying on the street with major injuries. He died within minutes of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene by arriving paramedics. Witnesses say a dark-colored SUV hit him and fled the scene in an eastbound direction.
The Moreno Valley Police Department’s Traffic Reconstruction Team closed down the intersection for six hours to conduct an investigation.
The investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing and witnesses are asked to contact Officer Hutchins at (951) 486-6900 or after hours at (951) 776-1099.
“This is a tragedy for this man’s family,” said Attorney James Johnson. “Hopefully the driver turns themselves into police or a witness comes forward with more information.”
