MORENO VALLEY, California (April 15, 2016) — A woman has died and a driver was critically injured Thursday night when a car crashed into a tree at the intersection of Manzanita Avenue and Perris Boulevard, the Riverside County Sheriff Coroner said.
The crash took place about 9:32 p.m. last night. The Moreno Valley Police Department arrived at the scene within minutes of the collision and found the driver and passenger both unresponsive. Paramedics rushed the two people to Riverside University Health System Medical Center (RUHS), but the female passenger died of her injuries at the hospital.
The crash is under investigation by the Moreno Valley Traffic Reconstruction Team. The investigators closed down Manzanita Avenue between Muskeg Way and Shagbark Road for six hours. Investigators are seeking to find out whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
