1 Killed, 7 Injured in Moreno Valley Crash at Moreno Beach and Cactus
MORENO VALLEY, CA (October 2, 2022) – A crash killed one person and injured several others at Moreno Beach Drive and Cactus Avenue in Moreno Valley.
According to an article published by The Daily Bulletin, the tragic accident took place on Sunday afternoon. Officers reported the wreck at about 3:16 p.m.
The incident began when a gray 2001 Lexus IS300 was going north on Moreno Beach Drive, approaching Cactus Avenue, in Moreno Valley.
At the same time, a white 2020 Honda Odyssey was traveling east on Cactus. The Sheriff’s Department said the Lexus ran a red light at the intersection for an unknown reason.
Teen Driver Runs Red Light, Hits Van
In the process, the Honda broadsided the Lexus. The Lexus then slammed into a metal traffic signal pole at the northeast corner of the intersection.
The 17-year-old boy driving the Lexus died at the scene. His passenger, an underaged girl, sustained major traumatic injuries as a result of the collision.
The six occupants of the Odyssey survived the incident with minor injuries. Paramedics rushed all patients to hospitals for treatment.
The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released. Meanwhile, officers forced the area of Moreno Beach and Cactus to shut down for a time following the wreck.
The cause of the fatal Moreno Valley crash is still under investigation. Anyone with information can call the deputies at 951-486-8206.
