1 Killed, 3 Injured in Moreno Valley Crash at Cactus Avenue and Indian Street
MORENO VALLEY, CA (July 7, 2021) – A Tesla crash killed one person and injured several others at Cactus Avenue and Indian Street in Moreno Valley.
The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department received a call about the tragic accident on Tuesday night. Officers reported the wreck on July 6 at about 11:58 p.m.
The incident began when a black Tesla Model-S was traveling north on Indian Street at a high rate of speed in Moreno Valley. At the same time, a grey Nissan Versa was going east on Cactus Avenue.
Deputies said the speeding driver then ran a red signal light and slammed into the Nissan at the intersection of Cactus and Indian. The Versa rolled over and slid several feet on its roof.
The driver of the Nissan ended up thrown from the car and landed in the northbound lanes of Indian Street. The victim sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision.
Speeding Tesla Runs Red Light, Hits Car
The Tesla went off the road and plowed through a cinderblock wall. It came to a stop in the backyard of a residence in the 24500 block of Tuscarora Circle.
Firefighters along with the paramedics arrived and pronounced the ejected victim dead at the scene. The operator and the two passengers of the Tesla suffered minor to moderate injuries upon impact.
Medical personnel soon took them to a local hospital for treatment. The names of the deceased and wounded parties have not been yet released.
Meanwhile, officials forced the area of Cactus Avenue and Indian Street to shut down for a time following the wreck. The fatal Moreno Valley crash is still under investigation.
