Suspected DUI Driver Arrested after 2-Vehicle Hit-and-run Crash in Moreno Valley
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. (May 19, 2019) — Raymundo Meza, 26, of Moreno Valley, was arrested on DUI charges following a major-injury crash at Ironwood Avenue and Perris Boulevard, in the city of Moreno Valley.
The crash was reported to police on May 19, 2019, at 2:55 a.m. Tthe Moreno Valley Police Department responded to the scene with the Moreno Valley Fire Department and AMR paramedics.
Two people who were in the other vehicle suffered major injuries and were transported by paramedics to a local hospital. The 35-year-old female passenger died at the hospital and the driver was treated at the hospital for major injuries. She was identified by friends by her first name as Christy on Facebook.
Meanwhile, Raymundo Meza, who was driving the other vehicle, fled the scene. A Good Samaritan managed to stop him and detain Meza until deputies arrived and arrested him. Meza was uninjured in the crash. He was arrested and booked for felony driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and fleeing from the collision scene with injuries.
Members of the Moreno Valley Police Traffic Reconstruction Team are investigating this collision.
