One Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash in Morgan Hill
MORGAN HILL, Calif. (June 12, 2024) — A semi-truck reportedly crossed into oncoming traffic on northbound Highway 101 and caused a fatal crash near Cochrane Road in Morgan Hill.
The deadly, four-vehicle collision occurred at around 9:17 p.m. on Tuesday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The big rig truck was traveling southbound on Highway 101 when for unknown reasons its driver veered into northbound lanes and caused a collision between other motorists.
The drivers of a white Tesla or BMW, a white Chrysler Pacifica, a Ram 2500 pickup truck and a motorcyclist collided and one person suffered fatal injuries. The motorcycle became trapped underneath the Ram pickup truck, the report said.
Paramedics responded and pronounced one person dead at the scene around 9:34 p.m., the report said. Another person was transported to a hospital with undisclosed injuries.
It’s unknown at this time what caused the semi-truck to cross into oncoming traffic, but the CHP report indicated the truck possibly ran over an object and was dragging it.
Investigators are working to determine liability for the Morgan Hill crash on Highway 101.
