Motorcyclist Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 101 in Morgan Hill
MORGAN HILL, Calif. (May 15, 2024) — A motorcycle rider suffered major injuries in a multi-vehicle crash in Morgan Hill on Highway 101, just north of Cochrane Road.
The traffic accident occurred at around 6:12 a.m. on May 15th, according to the California Highway Patrol dispatch.
The motorcyclist reportedly crashed into a white Honda and was then the rider was struck by an oncoming black Honda, the report said. The rider was thrown off the bike into the fast lane and the motorcycle wound up in the slow lane of the freeway. The white Honda’s black hood was also falling off after the collision, the report said.
A witness called 911 to report the rider was “barely moving” after the collision. The caller told dispatch operators they saw the motorcycle slide and the rider flew after being hit “very hard” by the black Honda, the report said. Also, a grey vehicle with a “smashed fender” was pulled over on the right shoulder.
Meanwhile, another witness who called CHP dispatch told operators they saw a brown Toyota Corolla pulled over further north with driver’s side damage. The motorist was reportedly pulling off the fender from the vehicle before driving away. The same vehicle had no damage when it was next to the caller at the metering light before the accident, the report said.
Paramedics responded to transport the injured motorcyclist to a hospital for treatment of major injuries from the accident.
Finally, investigators are working to determine fault for the motorcycle accident on Highway 101 in Morgan Hill.
