Motorcycle Accident Chula Vista on Otay Lakes Road (Feb. 13)
Motorcyclist, Carlos Galindo, 61, Killed in Collision
CHULA VISTA, Calif. (Feb. 14, 2025) — A fatal motorcycle accident in Chula Vista happened Thursday night on Otay Lakes Road, near La Media Road.
The 61-year-old motorcyclist died at the hospital Thursday night after a 7:35 p.m. collision on Feb. 13th with another vehicle in Chula Vista, according to the Chula Vista Police Department.
The motorcycle rider was eastbound on Otay Lakes Road when the bike reportedly rear-ended another eastbound vehicle’s side fender.
Witnesses and paramedics both tried to save the motorcyclist identified as Carlos Galindo, but he died at the hospital shortly after his arrival, police said.
Meanwhile, the 49-year-old Chula Vista man driving the other vehicle stopped and cooperated with the investigation.
Investigators from the Chula Vista Police Department’s traffic unit are working on the case.
“It appears that drugs and or alcohol were ruled out, but police should also find out if the other motorist changed lanes into the path of the motorcyclist,” said Attorney James Johnson. “Motorcycle riders often hit drivers who suddenly change lanes especially if they fail to signal.”
Witnesses should contact the Chula Vista police traffic bureau at 619-476-2428.
