ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. (June 14, 2023) — A motorcycle accident happened Wednesday on the Interstate 5 Freeway, just north of the Chapman Avenue on ramp in Orange.
The two-vehicle collision occurred in the southbound I-5 around 7:41 a.m. on June 14th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials say the drivers of a white Nissan Altima sedan and the motorcyclist were the only vehicles involved in the crash. Witnesses told dispatch operators they saw the white sedan allegedly “swerving in and out of lanes prior to the traffic collision,” the report said. The driver reportedly struck the motorcycle rider in the HOV lane.
Meanwhile, a witness told Johnson Attorneys Group there was “another white car that exited the carpool lane illegally right before the motorcycle hit the white Altima. The car he hit was not weaving in and out of the carpool lane. Motorcycle was going about 80 when it hit and was driving on the left side of the lane, not the usual lane splitting that bikes do in the carpool.”
Paramedics responded to help those injured in the crash, but there are no further details at this time.
Investigators are working on the case to determine fault for the motorcycle accident on the 5 Freeway.
