Motorcycle Accident on Highway 17, near Camden Avenue in Campbell

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, Calif. — A motorcyclist was seriously injured Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle crash on northbound Highway 17, just south of the Camden Avenue off-ramp in Campbell, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision was reported on May 13th around 9:13 a.m. on northbound Highway 17, according to the CHP dispatch logs. The motorcycle rider was down in the No. 1 lane following the crash, blocking traffic.

Authorities said it was initially unclear whether the Harley-Davidson motorcycle spun out on its own or was struck by another vehicle. One report indicated the motorcyclist may have been driving recklessly prior to the collision.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and classified the incident as a major-injury crash involving two vehicles. The two left lanes of the highway were temporarily closed for approximately 20 minutes while officers conducted measurements and investigated the collision.

A heavy-duty tow truck was requested to remove the damaged motorcycle from the scene.

No additional information about the injured rider or the circumstances leading up to the crash was immediately available. The incident remains under investigation by the CHP.
