Motorcycle Accident on Interstate 5 Freeway, Downing Ave in Stockton

STOCKTON, Calif., (March 19, 2026) — A major injury motorcycle accident involving a gray Mazda occurred Thursday on the Interstate 5 Freeway South near the Downing Avenue offramp.

The incident was reported on March 19th at approximately 1:43 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The accident took place in the southbound lanes of I-5 just north of Downing Avenue, where the motorcyclist reportedly collided with a gray Mazda.

At 1:45 p.m., emergency responders discovered the motorcyclist lying in the No. 1 lane. Subsequent updates indicated that the rider sustained major injuries, although these were not considered life-threatening. The Stockton Fire Department was reportedly notified shortly after the accident.

The collision prompted a request for rotation tow services for the involved motorcycle, and the fast lane was blocked as responders attended to the scene.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and encourage any witnesses to come forward with information.
