Motorcycle, Car Crash on Highway 1, Swanton Road, Santa Cruz County

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (June 4, 2026) — A motorcyclist was injured in a collision with a vehicle Thursday afternoon on Highway 1 near Swanton Road in northern Santa Cruz County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported on June 4th at approximately 2:44 p.m. on southbound State Route 1 at Swanton Road, near 25 Swanton Road. CHP dispatch logs indicate the collision involved a gray Toyota Prius and a motorcycle.

Initial reports stated the motorcycle rider was thrown off the roadway following the impact. Witnesses told dispatchers the motorcycle was moved off the road to the right shoulder, while the rider was found on the ground but sitting upright.
Authorities said the occupants of the vehicle appeared uninjured and remained at the scene. However, the motorcyclist was reported to be conscious following the crash with unknown injuries.
By 2:59 p.m., dispatchers advised that the motorcycle and rider were on the right shoulder of the highway.
The collision temporarily affected traffic, with the northbound side of Highway 1 partially blocked, according to CHP logs.
A tow truck was requested for the damaged motorcycle, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
