Motorcycle, Cars Crash on Interstate 680 Freeway in Sunol
Motorcyclist Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision on I-680 Near Mission Grade
FREMONT, Calif. (August 12, 2025) — A multi-vehicle crash involving at least two motorcycles and several cars injured at least one person Monday afternoon on northbound Interstate 680 near the Mission Grade commercial vehicle enforcement facility, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision was reported around 3:04 p.m. just south of the I-680 truck scales, just north of Fremont. Initial reports indicate a gray 2020 Tesla, a BMW sedan, a blue-and-white motorcycle, and a silver Toyota Prius were among the vehicles involved. CHP said two motorcycles were traveling together when one clipped another vehicle, triggering a chain-reaction crash.
At one point, the incident blocked the HOV lane. Emergency crews, including Alameda County Fire, responded, and at least one injured person was transported for medical treatment.
Traffic was moved to the right-hand shoulder as officers investigated, but drivers in the area experienced delays. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
