Motorcyclist Injured in Collision on Bayshore Freeway (US 101)

SUNNYVALE, Calif. (Oct. 8, 2024) — A motorcycle rider was injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 101, just south of Ellis Street in Sunnyvale.

The traffic accident occurred in the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of northbound US 101 around 6:43 a.m. on Oct. 8th, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The initial report stated the motorcycle and a black Subaru hatchback were involved. Four or five other vehicles stopped in front of the two vehicles to possibly assist them.

The CHP reported six vehicles became involved including a Cybertruck that was blocking traffic lanes.

By this time, the Mountain View Police Department had officers at the scene who stated the rider was severely injured or a fatality on scene. However, a later update stated the injuries were minor.

Paramedics were also on scene to help anyone hurt, but there were no further details.

Police issued a SigAlert due to several northbound lanes being blocked by vehicles and emergency responders.

Investigators are working to determine fault for the motorcycle crash on Highway 101 in Sunnyvale.
