Major Injury Motorcycle, Car Crash on I-580 Near Bridge
RICHMOND, Calif. (June 10, 2022) — A motorcycle crash involving an SUV happened Friday morning on the Interstate 580 Freeway, just east of the toll plaza and the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge.
The two-vehicle collision occurred in the eastbound lanes of the freeway about 11:14 a.m. on June 10th, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A motorcycle rider was attempting to turn around when a gray Nissan SUV collided with the bike. The SUV suffered major front-end damage in the collision and the two vehicles were towed for evidence.
The motorcyclist suffered major injuries in the collision. Paramedics with the Richmond Fire Department responded and rushed him by ambulance to a hospital.
Meanwhile, police issued a SigAlert due to several lanes being blocked for the collision.
Investigators are working on the case and will determine fault for the crash.
