Officer Hospitalized After Collision Near Rainbow Valley Boulevard
Temecula, CA (July 3, 2022) – A San Diego Police Department motor sergeant suffered injuries following a traffic accident that occurred on Rainbow Canyon Road.
Auto vs. Patrol Motorcycle Accident on Rainbow Canyon Road in Temecula
On July 2, Saturday, the officer was riding a motorcycle heading north on Rainbow Canyon Road. The Daily Bulletin News reported the officer lost control of their motorcycle as they approached a right-hand curve in the roadway. For this reason, the officer crossed over the double yellow lines and veered directly into the path of oncoming traffic.
The article published online mentioned the man driving a pickup truck on southbound Rainbow Canyon attempted to avoid collision. However, the pickup truck still hit the officer and the motorcycle. The incident took place around 8:30 p.m.
When emergency crews arrived at the site, they immediately rendered aid to the injured motor sergeant. An ambulance transported the officer to a hospital for further treatment and evaluation.
Detectives handling the case continue to investigate the precise cause of the crash on Rainbow Canyon Road in Temecula.
