Motorcyclist Killed on 60 Freeway after Car Loses Tire in Baldwin Park
BALDWIN PARK, CALIF. (May 1, 2020) — Julian Moors, 44, of Riverside, was identified as the motorcyclist who died early Friday morning when the rider struck a tire that fell off a Mercedes on the 60 Freeway in Baldwin Park.
The crash took place about 5:41 a.m. near Garey Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A 29=year-old Compton man driving a 2008 Mercedes Benz CL550 told authorities he lost a wheel that was hit by the motorcyclist. The rider on the 2017 BMW motorcycle was then hit by a 37-year-old Lynwood woman‘s 2019 Kia Sportage in the No. 1 lane of the freeway.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene where the HOV and Nos. 1 and 2 lanes were blocked due to the crash. A SigAlert was issued and a hard closure was made due to the investigation. The Los Angeles County Sheriff Coroner was also sent to the scene where the motorcycle rider was pronounced dead by paramedics.
The crash remains under investigation.
