Motorcycle Rider Injured in Templeton Crash on Highway 101, Vineyard Drive
TEMPLETON, Calif., (June 5, 2026) — A major traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a gray SUV occurred Friday night on the southbound US 101, just north of Vineyard Drive in Templeton.
It happened at approximately 7:00 PM on June 5, 2026, the California Highway Patrol reported. The incident, which resulted in significant injuries, prompted a swift response from emergency services.
According to the CHP dispatch log, the collision happened when a motorcycle reportedly rear-ended a gray SUV on the highway. The rider and the motorcycle ended up in the center divide, causing traffic to back up to Las Tablas Road.
Emergency responders, including fire services, arrived on the scene promptly at 7:11 PM. The CHP initially categorized the incident as a traffic collision with unknown injuries, but it was later updated to a major injury collision. Paso Robles Towing was requested to assist with the removal of the involved vehicles, including a black sports bike.
The identity of the injured motorcyclist has not yet been released as authorities work to notify family members. At this time, the specific nature and extent of the injuries sustained are unknown.
The CHP has closed and since reopened the roadway and is actively investigating the circumstances leading to the collision. They are urging any witnesses to come forward with additional information that may aid in the investigation.
