Nicholas Kusmich, 50, was Riding `Mini Motorcycle’
LONG BEACH, Calif. (August 8, 2024) – Nicholas Kusmich, 50, of Long Beach, died in a crash between his “mini motorcycle” and a semi-truck Wednesday on West Anaheim Street and Hayes Avenue in Long Beach.
The two-vehicle collision occurred at around 4:45 p.m. on August 7th, according to news reports and the Long Beach Police Department.
Police reported the driver of a 2020 Kenworth tractor-trailer truck carrying a shipping container was traveling eastbound on Anaheim Street. The truck driver turned left onto Hayes Avenue to travel northbound into the path of a westbound mini motorcycle whose driver was riding along the north curb of Anaheim Street.
The motorcycle crashed into the passenger side of the semi-truck while it was making the turn onto Hayes Avenue. The motorcyclist suffered major injuries and died on scene.
Meanwhile, the truck driver stopped his vehicle and cooperated with the investigation.
